Remembering The Past-Looking To The Future

NEW LEGISLATION
Adam Walsh Child Protection & Safety Act

On July 27, 2006, President Bush signed into law the bipartisan "Adam Walsh Child Protection & Safety Act." At President Bush's side were John and Reve Walsh and other parents of children who tragically, never made it home. It's only fitting that the toughest legislation in 25 years is named in honor of Adam Walsh, who never made it home and whose parents have fought so hard for our nation's children. Of the 550,000 registered sex offenders nationally, the whereabouts of about 100,000 are currently unknown. The Adam Walsh Act creates stricter requirements for sex offender registration -- to prevent offenders from slipping through the cracks and hurting our children. One of the most important features of the bill is the creation of a national sex offender registry that will be available on the Internet. The legislation also calls for stricter prison sentences for offenders who fail to register and keep their information current. The offender will be assigned to one of three tiers; the worst offenders will have to check-in more frequently, and all offenders will have to register in person. The Coalition to Fund The Adam Walsh Child Protection & Safety Act - Fund Adam - was formed to insure that this landmark legislation is funded and implemented. Fund Adam aims to insure that the promises this law makes to our Nation's children are kept. Some Highlights Of The Bill: * Establishes a comprehensive national system for the registration of sex offenders. * Establishes three tiers of sex offenders. * Requires all jurisdictions to enact criminal penalties for sex offenders who fail to comply with registration requirements. * Requires sex offenders to appear in person to verify their registration. * Imposes a fine and/or term of imprisonment for up to 20 years on sex offenders who knowingly fail to register. * Makes registration as a sex offender a mandatory condition of probation and supervised release. * Eliminates the statute of limitations for prosecutions of child abduction and felony sex offenses against children. * Directs the Attorney General to provide technical assistance to jurisdictions to help identify and locate sex offenders relocated due to a major disaster.
PROTECT OUR CHILDREN ACT 2007

The Protect Our Children Act has passed with authorization of funding to provide many a services for our children in the U.S. Senate  on September 25, 2008.  It had passed November 14, 2007 in the
House of Representatives under the direction of Representative Debbie Wasserman-Shultz.  A big thanks and many kudos for her dedication to our children.

The PROTECT Our Children Act will:

  • Authorize over $320 million over the next five years in desperately needed funding for law enforcement to investigate child exploitation.
  • Mandate that child rescue be a top priority for law enforcement receiving federal funding.
  • Allocate funds for high-tech computer software that can track down Internet predators.

Write to Your Senators
If you choose to write a letter, fax, telegram or e-mail, you may use the following sample letter—and modify it how you see fit.

Dear Senator:

I know that you believe, like I do, that we must do everything possible to protect children from sexual predators. That is why I am asking for your help.

Last year alone, U.S. law enforcement identified over 300,000 criminals who were trafficking in movies and pictures of young children being raped and tortured. Experts say that one in every three of these criminals has local child victims. Child pornography trafficking over the Internet has given us a trail of evidence that leads straight to their doorsteps, but the vast majority of these children will never be rescued because investigators are overwhelmed, outnumbered and underfunded.

As your constituent, I urge you to do everything in your power to pass the PROTECT Our Children Act (S. 1738, Biden-Hatch). This bipartisan legislation passed the House 415-2, but it is now the victim of petty partisan politics.

Now that we know where these children are and how to protect them, there is no excuse for the Senate to fail to take action this session.

Dear Petra :

We need your help immediately.

Yesterday, President Obama made a bold statement about accountability in government: "Starting today, every agency and department should know that this administration stands on the side not of those who seek to withhold information, but those who seek to make it known."

Now that principle is being tested in Virginia, where a PROTECT-backed government accountability bill for children is under attack. This victory is important to advance the cause of accountability in every state!

Virginia Sen. Toddy Puller and Del. Ward Armstrong have introduced legislation to give the public information on how our child protection and justice systems are protecting children. Powerful behind the scenes opposition is already growing. Please take just a few minutes right now and call Sen. Puller and Del. Armstrong to thank them and let them know they have your support. If you are a Virginia resident, your help is especially needed!

You can reach Sen. Puller at (804) 698-7536, email:

You can reach Del. Armstrong at (804) 698-1010, email:

Thank you for springing into action!

P.S. In our last email update we told you about Alicia's Law. That situation is also developing and you'll hear more soon.

Lindsay Ashford: An American ex-patriot living abroad in the Netherlands. He is the former king pin of these girl lover type sites. He had a web site called www.puellula.com, puellula means little girl in Spanish slang. His site celebrated the splendor of little girls showing pictures of people's children, like Senator Barack Obama's two daughters and others that have gone missing. He had a section of his site that would lure in girls under 13 years old to learn about having sexual relationships with grown men, and encourage the parents to allow it. He stated in a counter interview with me that an infant as old as 6 months can consent to sexual pleasure. Also, we were able to link his web site’s advertisers to illegal activities against children. One of my top advisors persuaded the Minister Of Justice of the Netherlands, where most of these sites are hosted out of, to take legal action against him. His site was shut down after an 8 month battle we fought with this site.

Now he is the president and Biden passed the PROTECT act to put $2.3 million into the FBI to hunt child predators.  I think we can really get things going with AL.
